Eating the right foods can help liver enzymes to eliminate reactive intermediates (toxins) from the body.

You should add the following foods into your liver detox diets:

Phytonutrient-rich foods

They are rich in substances that aid detoxification and protect the body: Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, lemons, red grapes, garlic, soya, rosemary and turmeric.
Sour-tasting foods

Foods that taste sour stimulate liver function. Lemon juice in hot water is a good cleansing drink. Citrus fruits are aggressive cleansers like grapefruit juice.

Antioxidant superfoods

Tomatoes, watercress, carrots, peppers, beetroot and berries

Protein

Have some protein daily. Choose from low-fat meat, eggs or soya. Protein is essential as it provides key amino acids that bind on to toxins and neutralize their toxicity.

Foods rich in B vitamins

Green vegetables, lean meat, wheatgerm and egg.

Sulphur-containing foods

Garlic, onions, red peppers, Brussels sprouts, egg yolk and broccoli.

Fresh juices

Make with lemon, carrot, ginger and apple. The pectin in apples promotes bile secretion and interrupts the production of cholesterol in the liver. A juice of beetroot and celery or watercress juice diluted with water, taken in the morning and afternoon can stimulate cleansing. Add wheat grass to juices for extra nutrients.
