Or
Two eggs, boiled or poached, with wheat-free bread or rice cakes, oat cakes or similar.

Mid-morning and Mid-afternoon

A handful of mixed seeds with a few chopped nuts.
Or
Chunks of fresh fruit or a fruit smoothie.
Or
Half an avocado.

Lunch and Dinner

Oily fish or poultry with plenty of vegetables.
Or
Home-make vegetable soup or vegetable stew, sprinkled with a few seeds, eaten with rice cakes.
Or
Brown rice or other grains with stir-fried or steamed vegetables. Choose colourful vegetables rich in plant nutrients, such as tomatoes, broccoli, carrots, peppers, onions, garlic and dark-green leafy vegetables. Use olive oil or a small amount of boiling water to stir-fry.

Detox Diet Plans – Supplements

September 9th, 2009 · Detox Cleansing Diets

The colon is the main section of the large intestine (bowel) and its lining is one of the body’s most important defensive barriers against toxins. A poor diet of processed, low-fibre foods can damage the colon. If the damage is not corrected, the whole immunity system may eventually become undermined.

By improving our diet habits and adopting detox diet plans, the colon is no longer begin bombarded with unsuitable foods. To help repair the colon’s lining and make the organ fully active again, there are some supplements in addition to your detox regime.

Supplements

Aloe Vera Juice – This provides several benefits as it stimulates movement of waste through the colon and repairs the damaged, leaky colon walls, so that fewer toxins are able to enter.

Psyllium Seed Husks – This is a useful cleansing supplement. The husks add bulk and speed the transit of the intestines’ contents. They help lift impacted material and harmful bacteria off the colon wall. Psyllium husks must be taken with plenty of water to allow the fibres to swell up. The exact intake of psyllium depends on body size, so start low and increase the dosage until the desired affect is achieved (Important to follow manufacturer’s instructions).

Combined Supplements – You can find formulas that contain psyllium together with other cleansing herbs and bentonite clay, which helps absorb old toxins from the colon.

3 Day Detox Diet Plan – Gentle Introduction To Detoxification

September 5th, 2009 · Detox Cleansing Diets

The greater the array of stress and numbers of toxins that penetrated the body, the deeper detoxification must go. But if you are nutritionally deficient or suffers from fatigue and are generally stressed, before you start detoxifying you must follow a nourishing diet. This will help your body to recuperate and heal. Once strength is regained, the time is right to begin gently detoxifying the body.

A simple 3 day detox diet plan will provide a gentle introduction of the body to detoxification. During these 3 days, you can follow these guidelines:

Drink at least 8 glasses of pure distilled or filtered water every day to prevent dehydration and flush toxins out of the system. It is a good idea to mix water with the saliva in the mouth so that is, in a sense, digested. Cold water is said to weaken the digestion, so try to drink it at room temperature. Coffee substitutes and herbal teas such as peppermint can be drunk, but without cow’s milk or sugar.

Eat plenty of lightly steamed vegetables, stir-fried and vegetable soups. When stir-frying, avoid using oil, as fats change chemically when heated to high temperatures, becoming saturated fatty acids. Instead use a little boiling water to start sweating garlic, onions and ginger; when these have released some moisture, add the main vegetables.

Eat raw fruits in moderation (especially if you’re new to detoxification) because they are potent cleansers. pears are suitable because they are the least allergenic fruit and are also rich in insoluble fibre which speeds up the passage of food through the bowel.

Pineapple (which contains lots of enzymes) and antioxidant-rich berries are also good choices. It is important that you should only eat fruits on an empty stomach and nothing after it for at least 30 minutes.

Eat small quantities of good lean protein each day to provide the body with amino acids. This is beneficial as it aid energy levels and digestion. Eggs, poultry, oily fish (from unpolluted waters) and soya are all good choices.

Use cold-pressed virgin oil and flax, pumpkin seed and walnut oils, which provide healthy essential fatty acids. use them in fresh salad dressings.

Choose whole foods and organic produce instead of ready-made meals and convenience foods.

Fact is, these are good eating habits that we should incorporate into our lifestyle every day. But if it’s too difficult for you…. once every few months, a 3 day detox diet plan to give your body time to heal and cleanse is better than none.

3 Day Detox Diets to Kick-start Cleansing Process

September 2nd, 2009 · Detoxification

Detoxification has always been used in naturopathy to eliminate waste and revitalize the body. Popular cleanses today tend to focus around 3 day detox diets or a 7 day program based around a high raw fruit and vegetable intake, or fruit-only cleanses that have been adapted from a naturopathic regime.

While raw foods are very good cleansers, they are not always appropriate at the beginning of a cleansing plan. Unless you already consume large amounts of raw foods, changing from a Western diet to one of raw foods can swing your body into “shock cleansing.”

On an all-raw food diet, especially one based on fruit, stored toxins are brought up from the “deep” organs, such as the liver, to the “superficial” organs of elimination – the skin, intestines and lymphatic system. If these organs have not been prepared, considerable strain is put on them, triggering a “healing crisis”, which is a cleansing reaction that occurs when toxin substances are expelled faster than the organs of elimination can remove them, leading to toxicity in the blood and lymph.

Hence you should not follow a detoxification programme without first taking professional advice especially:

  • If you are pregnant or are breast-feeding a baby.
  • If you suffering from any long term physical or mental illness
  • If you are over 65 or under 18.
  • Before or soon after any major surgery when the body is weak.

Your body has an innate desire to be well and to perform at an optimal level. If you cherish it instead of persisting with destructive practices, it will reward you with continued good health and vitality.

7 Day Detox Diet – Food Substitution

August 25th, 2009 · Detox Cleansing Diets

A 7 day detox diet plan can help eliminate the built up toxins, take the load off of the immunity system and optimize your digestion system within these few short days. The aim of the plan is to provide the body with a complete healthy balance of nutrients while allowing it to flush out the toxins that has build up over the years.

Your detox diet will to some extent be an individual matter. Your meals will depend on your lifestyle, weight, fitness and other factors. While we have covered the list of foods to avoid during your detox process in our earlier post, I would now provide you with a simple substitution list.

You should not be daunted at the prospects of giving up certain familiar foods. There is a wide range of alternatives.

Wheat and rye products – Replace with rice, millet, sago, amaranth, gram flour (used in popadoms), buckwheat, arrowroot, wheat-free pasta, soba and rich noodles, corn tortillas.

Cow’s milk and products – Replace with rice milk, almond milk, oat milk, goat or sheep’s milk, soya milk, mozzarella (made with buffalo milk).

Coffee and tea – Replace with chicory or dandelion-root coffee (although this may contain lactose and not therefore be dairy free), herbal or green tea.

Salt – Replace with seaweed and herbal salt substitutes. Use fresh herbs and spices instead of salt to give bland foods flavour.

Sugar – Replace with small quantities of carob, pure organic honey*, dates*, or maple syrup*.

Natural Detoxification – Foods to Avoid

August 21st, 2009 · Detox Cleansing Diets

The first level in a natural detoxification process is to strengthen and supports the digestion so that your body can assimilate nutrients more efficiently.

Nutritionists believe good health depends on the digestive system working efficiently. Poor digestion and food intolerances are linked, creating a vicious circle. If your digestion is poor, you are more likely to have a food intolerance, which in turn can interfere with the absorption of nutrients.

In time, this will lead to a string of health issues like irritable bowel syndrome and many other disorders.

If you desire to start a natural detoxification program, there are some foods that you should avoid or cut back altogether.

  • Tea, coffee, chocolate and other caffeinated drinks – These inhibits the absorption of vitamins and minerals and lead to dehydration.
  • Alcohol – Drink no more than one glass a day of an organic red wine (if you cannot totally avoid it)
  • Fatty, fried foods, processed meats
  • Processed, foods containing sugar and genetically modified – Try to eat whole foods, fresh foods and organic produce instead.
  • Wheat and rye – These are considered to be “acidic”. Wheat bran cereals can also scratch the lining of the colon. Instead, choose wholegrain oats and whole brown rice, which contains a high proportion of water.
  • Citrus fruits – Such as oranges are considered to be “aggressive” cleansers and if your liver is not as strong as it should be, it may experience difficult in breaking down the fruit acids.
  • Dairy products – Milk increases the production of mucus in the body, so is not beneficial when you are considering a cleanse.

By learning to eat right, you will prepare the body to adjust better during the detoxifying process.

A Proper Colon Cleanse Detox Removes Mucoid Plaque from the Colon

August 15th, 2009 · Colon Detox

Due to stress and diet, most Americans have many hardened layers of mucoid plaque in their body. A proper colon cleanse detox prepares the body for optimal health by removing the mucoid plaque.

Cleansing should always start by removing the waste from the colon. If we attempt to clean other organs of the body first, like the liver, blood or lymphatic system, the result will be futile. This is because any excreted toxins present in the waste-filled bowel will get recycled back into the body’s system.

If you choose to do colon cleansing, be sure to take these simple precautions:

1) Check with your conventional medical providers first, especially if you take any medications or have any health problems.

2) Make sure your colon-cleansing practitioner uses disposable equipment that hasn’t been previously used.

3) Get a list of specific herbal ingredients and amounts in any colon-cleansing products you use — some herbal supplements can cause health problems.

4) Beware of broad or inflated claims that colon cleansing will cure an illness or improve your health.

5) Stay well hydrated by drinking lots of fluids while undergoing colon cleansing to prevent dehydration.

By making proper preparation, you will not only benefit from a detox process but will also enjoy the process too.

Why You Need Colon Detoxification?

August 11th, 2009 · Detoxification

A lot of the health problems encountered by modern man today is because of the lifestyle he chooses. That is why numerous diseases have been constantly evolving and causing ill-health to man despite the improvement of medical science.

Man’s diet used to be simple but in modern time now, our foods are packed with a lot of unhealthy processed foods filled with refined sugar, chemicals and preservatives. And most of us are eating more proteins than necessary, leading to over-acidity of the body. An overabundance of acid in the body can take a toll on the colon too. This then leads to the inability of the colon to tackle harmful bacteria, and toxins.

Another factor that contributes to poor colon health is overeating. Most people tend to overeat. Overeating leads to an overuse of enzymes and causes the colon to work even harder. Plus the fact that a lot of the foods we eat are processed foods, it causes more mucoid plaque to build up in our colon.

Our environment is also another major cause for an unhealthy colon. Everyday we are bombarded with air pollution, secondary smoking, harmful chemicals and pesticides. Our immune system has to work overtime to rid our body of these nasty chemicals. This weakening of the immune system leads to a weakening of the colon as well.

Through a combination of a bad diet, poor lifestyle choices, and bad living conditions, our colon is clogged, leading to constipation and malfunction. To restore our health, we need to eliminate the toxins which have accumulated in our bodies.

Colon detoxification is a safe, alternative method to treat many of our symptoms and problems. It’s not just for people with constipation, but for anyone who wishes to feel better, and strengthen their inner organs. Cleansing is necessary to rid our body of toxins that accumulate as a result of an unhealthy diet, environmental pollution and chemicals, and a constant use of antibiotics.

The total elimination of all toxicity from your body can take months or years, but within after a colon detoxification program you will be losing weight and feeling enormously more energetic and vibrant.
